This was given to me when my grandad died, and while i have no idea how old it is, i do know it to be at LEAST 50 years old.
It is quite heavy, (scales broken, sorry) and 19cm tall and 9cm wide.
The stone is a hard stone, although what type, again not too sure.
Any ideas about country of origin or anything like that would be great.
I have placed this in the Chinese category, simply because that is my best guess.
Thanks guys :p
I forgot to mention that any information about how best to clean it would be great.
Thanks.

Wow, such great information, thanks ever so much guys.I now know where to continue my research, and to clean. Cheers all.
You guys are brilliant! I now think that after 40 or so years, I have a name for my little man. I believe he might be Jìngu? Luóhàn ????, the Arhat Who Carries Fruit . It's possible that he is not, and is in fact another one, but it seemed to maybe be a kumquat or some small fruit he might be holding.I still have absolutely no idea how old this statue is though, and wondered if you might be able to point me in the right direction to establish age, maybe a link to a another site or some pointers? I'll continue to do my own research, but i can't thank you all enough, I have always loved him, and now I think I know his name. :)
