Looks like an American made trunk from around early 1900's. Many of these were sold overseas and ended up coming back. Very nice to have it still in the family. This trunk is a good candidate to be refinsihed and restored to a proper place in your home.

I have not seen this type of keeper before. Does anyone else find them unusual?

So is this with keeping as collectors ? I didn't know if this
      Had any value ?

Perhaps here is some confusion. The keeper is the part of the trunk that functions to keep the leather strap in place. Those on your trunk are quite unususal. The value of any trunk is usually in the eye of the beholder. It may vary fron one place to another but I have noticed that trunks hold most value to those of us that are particularly fond of them. Trunkman has referred people witht the question of value to their local paper for a ballpark $ figure. I always find value is much higher for me than in the paper, as I love trunks.
