Now that my daughter is 16, we are attempting to update her room with items she can cherish when its time to move away. She has just recently started to show a spark of an interest in antiques and I'm trying to pass on some of the things I have learned. This mahogany veneered box with tray compartment and sticker residue:), was one of our finds from yesterday and am hoping someone can help me pinpoint its age.

That is really beautiful veneer work. What a nice storage box.
Based on the construction and interior wood color, I would think that this was mid to late 20th century (1950s+).

I'm sure this will sound very strange, but mid century wood products have a certain smell and weight about them, maybe its the type of varnish they used, so I'd been wondering if it wasn't from that period. I was impressed with how well they lined the veneer up. Thanks again Scott:)

Very difficult to determine exact age unless maker or owner marked.
Machine screws and stamped hinges have been around since late 1800's. Veneers have been used even earlier, looks cedar lined and maybe mahogany veneer? It looks very well constructed, a real treasure box!!
