small heavy pottery marked "K"

I would appreciate any information on this pottery and the maker. It is a small heavy piece. It is hand painted and on the bottom is etched letter "K". Along the entire perimeter of the base of the pot are letters "k". I was told this was an old piece from California, maybe 1800's?? Artist first name was Patricia?? Would love to know more about the age or origin of the pottery and/or the artist.
