Hi,
Sadly wood worms have had a few good meals from the sides of this. The wood from the sides being their favourite, they've not touched the top or bottom.
It has nice big hinges, lock with side carrying handles.
The lid is made from one plank of wood, slightly domed & polished.
I'd guess its 18/19th century travelling chest/ coffer.
It came from Spain but i don't know if it was made there, it does looks a bit Moorish.
I wondered if the bottom could've been put on at a later date? It doesn't look quite right to me.
But I'm no expert & no very little about furniture and would appreciate Any info or thoughts always welcome.
Thank you
