Can anyone tell me what this is or what it was used for? It's made of cast iron, and I'd say it's vintage to primitive! As the pictures shows, it has a crank on one side and a wheel (?) on the other. I think the wheel turns, but not sure. The overall height is about 3 to 4 feet tall. There is a teardrop shaped opening in the very front. Inside the opening, there is a threaded rod...maybe for grinding? The very top is sort of a bowl, with a center part that has a small opening. There is a flat round tray or, plate, which could have been used to set a bucket holding whatever was being processed. There is something else on the back of it; maybe a container in a holder..not really sure. This is a very rare piece, and I have searched for hours without any luck to make a definite identification. It surfaced as a part of an estate, and I would really like to know if anyone has any knowledge of it, and it's origin and value. My closest guesses were some sort of a coffee mill, and roaster, or perhaps a blacksmithing tool, but can't really find anything close to it, so I'm probably way off base. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, it is located in an area that has very little lighting, so if there was any markings on it, I couldn't see them. Thanks!
Most of a cream separator.
I concur, I like it's style though!
Thank you all SO much!! I greatly appreciate your help, and now know what else to look for to make it complete. It's possible that most of the missing parts may still be with it, I just didn't know what I was looking for before.
The only bad part is ,you need to find out what brand it is before you can look for parts.Good luck and keep us posted!
