    can anyone help identify this number plate that is 19 1/2 x 11 3/4 made of cast iron i think (about 25 lbs). the front has the number 1909 and the back A-10, was told it came of a railroad train when i bought it years ago. the front had been striped of the orig paint and painted whats on there now, the back is rusty help?. thanks ,larry

      looks to me like some sort of door for a boiler or cole burner?seen one on line alittle different but not much,hope that helps ,mike

      thanks mike but the 2 holes on the sides are large bolt holes where it had been mounted so i dont think its a door. also i think this came out of CA if that info helps. thanks again mike, larry

      My guess it is address number for a building. Or and this is the odds on favorite a corner stone date marker. We have some old house and buildings in the area that have these date plates. Some are brass some are cast iron.
