Picked this up from my favorite GW in Cleveland this morning. The hand painting of the nesting bird and the roses is incredible. It's a fairly large piece at 15 1/2" tall and quite heavy. It was priced "as is" so it was a very good deal. There are a few pits from glaze misses. The only thing it really has against it is a long crack in the clay at the base. It appears to be an original firing defect because the glaze actually runs into the crack. You can feel that it's smooth because the glaze has flowed into it, but not filled it in. There's a small water stain also which may have seeped through from the inside when it had water in it. There is no mark or label. The shape looks somewhat Asian, but the painting and double ring foot looks more European. I was thinking Nippon but it's really too heavy. Maybe an English, German, or Dutch piece. Still searching online but so far nothing like it. -Mike-
