This was a bonus piece as it was sitting inside of the hopefully 19th century Famille Rose punch bowl that I picked up today at GW. I checked for a mark and saw one so I decided to buy it with the bowl. Today was an excellent day for shopping ! The lady at the Volunteer's of America store also informed me that Friday is "National Thrift Day" so everything in the store will be 50% off. Now I don't have to wait till the last Tuesday of the month ! -Mike-
History
The RCW backstamp, a triangle configured around a small flower, is from Retsch & Co. of Wunsiedel (a city and district in Northeast Bavaria) and they used this particular symbol on their wares immediately after World War I. Underglaze base chips are a common manufacturing process of that era.
