This chair has been in my family for generations. There are no manufacture marks on it anywhere of any kind. It is quarter sawn and doweled. Manufacture appears to be manual and not via machine. Does anyone have any idea where such a chair may have been made, and if there is any significance to the carving...i.e., was it an advertising piece for a tobacco shop or some such, or is it simply an image of the carver's fancy? If you have any insights into the age and/or providence of this chair, please let us know. Thanks a million.
