I have the uncanny ability to come back from an overseas trip with breakable, fragile items that I would lovingly hand-carry. It's never the wooden souvenir or clothes or plastic something that I can easily pack into my check-in suitcase!
So on the recent trip to Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia, I thought that there was really nothing for me after browsing through the Sunday markets. Just as I was going to give up, I saw this 1950s glass decanter set. They were perfect! I love the shape and the colour. I have 2 others at home in different shapes and colours and this one would fit well with the collection. So of course I had to get them wrapped, packed into a small box and then I hand carried them back to Singapore! Totally worth it!
Thanks Smiata for the love!
You are soooo funny.... I am exactly the same. I always end up with something that I need to hand carry. This is what I hand carried from Thailand to Singapore (that's where we lived for 5 years). Are you an expat or live there permanently?

Thanks Attwood and DrFluffy! DrFluffy, thanks for sharing. I live in Singapore permanently (well at least for the next 5 years we reckon). I once lugged back a standing lamp from Saigon which when assembled with the lotus lamp shade was about 6 ft tall. Now THAT was crazy. The leg part barely fitted length-wise into a car (no way it was getting into the boot).
That's awesome. I did the silk lamp stuff too from Vietnam... Heehee :)
Good luck with your stay in Singapore. I loved living there, we were there for 5 years.
Thanks DrFluffy! Thanks Thefinder for the love!!
