This is an 8 x 10 print that I bought from an antiques dealer in Harriman, N.Y. in January this year, and I'm trying to find out more about it. With all the ongoing debates about gun control, I found it a striking and unsettling picture, one that might say something about our history with guns -- assuming it is a U.S. print. The dealer had a smaller version of this print as well.

The back has foxing, but no details. One dealer friend said it has the look of a McLoughlin book illustration, but it might be a proof that was rejected. Would love to hear if anyone has any further information.

Interesting print. As an antique photo collector/ dealer, I often find images of children with guns, knives, axes, etc... Items that we wouldn't let children near today!

I think that your print is US-- the gun looks to be a somewhat stylized/ simplified version of a Colt.

Thank you! It's a fascinating image, and I'd like to know the story that accompanied it (assuming it was for a novel of some kind).
