Please help me identify this stem base glass vase with spiral tip lid. It is 12 inches tall and 6 inches wide. Green glass that is hand painted with 24 carrot gold, and four flowers of green, yellow, white, light blue, and light pink with purple beaded stems with pods that match the flowers. The top of the base is highlighted with 25 clear glass decorative ridge tips. The spiral top lid is highlighted with 24 of the clear glass decorative ridge tips. I can't find any markings, but the piece has no seam marks, small air bubbles contained in the glass, and has raised texture decorations on the spiral top lid. The piece is quite elegant and appears to be quite old. Has been in two families for years. Our family makes the third.

Thanks for the notes. I just know there is someone out there who can tell me what it is, it's purpose (besides looking pretty) and who, or what company may have made it. This is considerably out of my field of expertise. Not like Van Briggle, of which I can talk your ear off.

The term "high enamel glass" will start the search. As Phil points out Italy is a definite possibility but Bohemian and Czech factories still do work like this. Even in Russia these wares are popular. The hand made elements of the rigaree decoration and the lid finial suggest a quality maker.

Thanks for all the comments and I will definitely begin a search focusing on the "high enamel glass" and Italy, Bohemian, Czech, and Russian. We had a foreign exchange student from Czech, so I think I will send him the pictures as well. Perhaps his Grandfather, or Grandmother will recognize the work.

A beautiful covered Candy Dish possibly from Italy or Bohemian. Sorry that's all I can offer! RER(BOB)
