Let me tell you about my 99 cent Persian Carpet that I won on eBay about 9 yrs back. A Man listed this on eBay starting bid .99 cents! Highest bidder gets it no matter what! He took many pictures but he did it outside in the sun. When you looked at the Whole Rug it looked faded in the middle and good along the edges. When I look closely at the closeups I couldn't image the center was that faded. So I popped in a 100.00 bid. I was gone all the day it went off and ran home when I remembered that I put a bid in on it, yep got it for .99. The Rug is 13 ft x 23 ft! The owner stated the rug belonged to the Owner of Woolworths and was in one of his Stores Jewelry Dept. back in the 20's. The rug was in Nebraska so I had to drive 1 hour to pick up, I think it was worth the .99 Cents!
Bragger, and they say a $ doesn't buy anything anymore.
I toldd him when I picked it up that I fely like I was Robbing him! He laughed and said "Thats the Way it Goes"! I did give a Whole dollar! LOL
Better Pictures! Sorry for the dark ones. Dave
you lucky dude! Ive been buying and selling oriental rugs for years and have never found such a deal.
Hey, cis2you,
What do you think it is? never really looked into it. I was thinking Sarouk? I also have another pic of a rug I got for 80.00. Dave
I think the color is excellent for it's age. I found a Navajo design rug with brillant red colors for $25. I don't know what I had but my brother in law offered me $250 on the spot. I'm sure it was worth much more but he collected them. Now all I have is repo :(
It is all hand knotted, would have to have taken months to make. It also has silk with the wool. Dave
best I can tell from your pic, Sarouk is correct with Herati border. Are you sure about the silk? Does the rug lean toward pink or deep ruby red w/ undertones of blue?
Not sure about silk? Deep ruby red and colbalt color blues/ Dave
good. great colors- the favored more traditional Sarouk colors. Many of the modern rugs have been washed for lighter tones, etc....
Beautiful!!
