This 1890s cabinet card shows a NH veteran in his full Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) uniform. He wears a GAR sack coat with his membership medal pinned to the chest. He also has a GAR sword and belt/ buckle rig. Finally, his hat with "GAR" wreath is visible on the table.

While the soldier is identified on the back-- I haven't been able to pin down which "Charles Carter" his is. There are four or five possibles. Census research will probably ID, but geneaological research is not my strong suit!

Thanks much kerry-- I really appreciate the help.

If you see the name try and get his original regiment, middle name, or birth date. Any of those things will help out greatly to ID him.

Scott, his name wasn't on my pages, but will see if any more of the originals are in the safe at courthouse and see if I can locate it there.

Scott, sorry I've went through every document regarding the GAR that was found in the "Time Capsule", around 85 pages and never found any reference to the name Charles Carter listed in those. Wish I could have been more help and found something, closes I came was a Major John P. Carter. Again very sorry
