This item is metal and was found in the rocks under a railway bed culvert. It's size is 7in long by 6 3/4in from the tips of the points. It is very rusty and pitted. That is all we know about it.

To small for pig hooks so I would guess it is part of an old balance scale.
Sky-hook that obviously didn't work.

I think it is for hanging sheeps carcass.
We showed the piece to a railway worker who works in the area and he said they use to tie it to a long rope and throw it through a railway culvert to clear all the debris (branches, trees, etc.) or beaver dams that blocked the culvert so it didn't damage the structure of the railway above.
