    (5 items)

I picked this item up at an auction/estate sale, I have absolutely no clue what it is, I bought it because I thought it looked neat. They're aren't any identifying marks or serial numbers on it anywhere. The dimensions are: 8 1/4" wide, 8 1/4" long, 6 1/2" tall (not counting the legs which are 2"). Any help as to identifying this item, its origin, or value is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Foot warmer? Coals in and feet up? Hang the socks? I have seen earlier examples that have a similar look.

actually i did a little more research and i found a pic on yahoo that looked exactly the same, it is a cast iron brazier which is the equivalent of a japanese hibachi.

Well, I guess none of you all have ever been on bivwack back in the day, but after you cook your food, it has to be kept hot/warm for the troops, heathence the tabs at at all four corners to balance a large pot of grub, fill with hot coals, leave the iron top off for more heat to cook with or put it on to reduce have a great day, what a wonderful POT WARMER.....
