This was my grandmothers and I inherited it after her death in 1992. It is well used, but no chips or cracks. There are some scratches on the bottom which is why I'm having a hard time identifying this piece. The only words I can make out are LALIQUE, FRANCE and then part of a word that ends in ....ICCI". There is also an elongated oval shape on the bottom. The words are acid etched.
I always thought this was a decanter, but then I realized the hole in the top of the bottle is pretty small, so maybe a perfume bottle? It's a little over 6 inches tall by 5 inches wide, and is very heavy!
Thank you for any info!
Any Lalique collectors out there?
This looks like it could be an early Nina Ricci flacon, though I don't recognise the design. Lalique designed several Nina Ricci bottles and some had the flat-topped stopper that this one has. It may have held an eau-de-cologne or eau-de-parfum.
Thanks Jenny. I googled Nina Ricci and found some just like mine but much smaller. This one is over 6 inches and the ones I saw were around 2-3 inches tall. Think this was just a big bottle of perfume? Thanks!
I had a look too, the perfume is Capricci by Nina Ricci. The flacon was designed by Marc Lalique, in the 60's I think. You can still buy both parfum and factice (coloured water) bottles new today, but I've only seen 0.5 and 1oz versions. Your big bottle might be something of a rarity!
Awesome info! Thanks so much! I'll have to figure out how many ounces it holds.
Hi,
I am seeking information about a cut glass perfume bottle which is about 3 3/8" in height with a stopper and has the word samoa etched just above the base. The letters are very feint and small but are still visible as samoa.
Any advice about this beautiful little bottle would be so appreciated.
Many thanks, Melody
