this oven/boiler looks to have been heated by the coal fire on the other side of the wall, as it shares the chimney with the old coal fire, there seems to be an old cast iron water tank just at the back aswell. have been told it is an original feature in the house with ours being the only one left in our street, the house is an ex-council house built for ex-forces in 1948, and was also told only 16 houses down the street had them ( by an original resident)the last one the street)
if anyone could help in identifying the oven or even valuing it, we would be very grateful
thankyou
I have a feeling this person would be of some help: http://stovehistory.blogspot.com/2012/11/a-life-in-stoves.html
You could do a records search, as the particulars about the construction may still be part of the Councel records down at the records office. Also a library may have a tradesmans' catolog or magazine that may have examples of what was readily available in that time period. Goods were still scarce as the World started over after the War.
Good luck, and thank you for sharing,
