Tsuru no Ongaeshi

Now this will either turn you off, feel indifferent about it, or being fascinated at how a pair of glass eyes, sunlight, and shadows can give the realism that I have talked about with gofun dolls. With the exception of the spring beauty maiko's painted eyes giving a spark of life to the doll itself, glass eyes with their detail really do make the difference between capturing realism and just being scary. How the Japanese doll makers do it is beyond me but it is amazing what they capture when making these dolls...
