    The tool is marked with a shield with E C Simmons at the top of the arch and Keen Kutter in the shield. This tool has a thick curved blade that extends back into the handle.

      You may want to check this out on real or repro sites. This is a really common brand that is reproduced. Check your branding mark on a real/repro web site. If you have an original, it was made between 1870 & 1940. The length of the handle in the picture as well as the curved blade leads me to think it was for cutting a crop of some sort where reaching under might not be an option without a longer handle and curved blade.

      Do you have the name of a website? I am not the most computer savvy.

      If you have google just type real/repro or real/fake then pick a site and type in your branding mark. Research is time consuming but a good way for you to become computer savvy.
