This company was active in San Francisco in the late 1800s and early 1900s. A friend of mine owns the sign now and it was given to him by Jim Roof, who was famous in botanical circles here in California. Apparently, he dug the sign up while camping up on Mount Tamalpais in the 30s or 40s.
