This Elgin watch has a small heart shaped Opal on chain adjustment, and a pin to hang the watch on so the weight of the watch is on pin, but has a long chain to view watch. Its like new, I don't have a tool to open back and see how many jewels it has. Cant find one on Internet? Maybe late 1890s. It works too. Estate sale find this summer.

The back should be hinged just like the front. If you look close you'll see a small tab sticking out a little bit beyond the rim of the case. Get your thumbnail behind that and it should pop right open. Here's a link: http://www.thewatchguy.com/pages/OPENCASE.html
