Hi,
today I bought some really interesting pieces at a local estate sale, but I'm not sure what they are........
This is another patriotic piece: Folk Art or Americana artwork.
Background is silk, but the needlepoint looks like either wool or chenille?
Depicts and Eagle holding an American flag with 13 stars.
Does anyone know how old this piece might be?
Any commemorative purpose to the number of stars?
Thanks for looking,
Nessa
My best guess would be 1950s or '60s patriotic art deco style. Could have actually been later, closer to the 1976 bicentennial, to commemorate the 13 original colonies around the 200th birthday of the nation.
I think it is significantly older but has been reframed.
I have seen this type of work before-- thought that it was very early 20th century and American made. I don't recall exactly but I believe the item that I saw was a WW1 Patriotic piece.
