Working at a scrap yard has its perks sometimes. I have been waiting for one of these traffic lights to come in for some time and finally a few weeks ago I was throwing out some trash and saw some plastic traffic lights in it, I took 5 home and found 3 that still worked. Last week a forklift went by me with a basket of aluminum and I saw 3 of these aluminum Traffic lights in it, the Boss gave me this one cheap so I took it home, put in the 3 lights and lit it up!
Now that is cool EJW ! I need one by my front door too :-) Great find !!
Awesome find, I have a buddy who drives a garbage truck it's his family business and he has found some amazing signs.
Thanks to gargoylecollector, Drfluffy, Manikin, officialfuel, Longings, trukn20 and Trey, glad you all love this!
Thanks Manikin and Trey for nice comments!
Pure genius Ed! You did a great job on this traffic light, looks great outside the store!
Thanks Signaholic for given this some love and nice compliment!
Very welcome Ed! Love it when a plan comes together.
AWESOME find Ed!!! I keep finding the ones that need way too much work or the seller thinks they are pure gold!
Thanks tommy1002, mine needs blasting, primed and painted inside and out but that's ok cause I got it real cheap!
Thanks Chevelleman69, Designer, mtg75, leighannrn, pops52, sanhardin, egreeley1976, AntiqueToys and sugargirl for given this some love.

Nice find "eagle eye"!
I may be telling you something that you already know, but a word of caution. Don't use sand to blast the paint off the aluminum as it will embed into the aluminum & really do some damage.
Thanks walksoftly!! Ill either use glass or walnut then!
Soda is an option if there is an outfit close that has the equipment.
Thanks AmberRose for given this some Love!
do you know how to tell the year? I hjave a traffic light and have no idea what year it is
yours looks great im glad you saved them
Hi vwbus, glad you love this, this one has plastic lenses and aluminum frame and I see the same exact ones still hanging at intersections so who knows when it was made, it could be 10, 20, 30 or 40 yrs old, I don't know. if it had glass lenses I would guess it to be a lot older.
Do you know who made it?
Mine has glass lenses but I have no idea how to tell the year and when I go home ill check the manufacture
walksoftly: Mine says MarkIV Eagle Signal . The scrap yard at work just got a rool-off box full of these but no lenses in them and they look older then mine, I'm gonna grad a couple more!
Found this link it says Eagle was bought out by Mark IV in the 80's

I've been watching an online auction for what I think is a GE single face, I had the top bid for the last two days at $50, have 2 days to decide if I want to go higher.
Thanks walksoftly for that web sight, cool, that puts mine from the 80's so now I'll check the ones that came in this week to see who made them and check the year. I hope they are older. good luck on your bid, what auction is that? LOL
It's a Saskatchewan based Auction company.
McDougall Auction

Keep us posted on what you find at work.
Glad you Love this AmberRose, Manikin, geo26e and Aimathena
Thanks Blackshiep1 for checkin this out and lovin it!
You are right, that's a Mark IV, which would have been made in the 80s, or possibly into the 90s. For some reason, the paint did not hold very well on these. This probably had glass lenses and incandescent lamps originally, and was later upgraded to the plastic LEDs.
