Long day today, and I took a thrift break (like therapy) on my way home. There she lie, in the freshly brought out bin..PY apple teapot. (Japan 50s) Great condition and I know the whole line to be super collectable. I like their Pixieware too.
Run home feeling great, knowing I'd have the added "therapy" of cleaning her up. Dropped her! Yep, giving her a gentle scrub, then bam double wham, spout AND handle. Totally and completely my fault. Heavy sigh.
These seem to be going for big money so I'm glad I only paid two dollars but...Dumb Bunny!
Not a good feeling..I know!!...sorry AmberRose!...:-)
It happens and a sinking feeling in stomach :-( He or she is so cute too . Love her
Kind of like Humpty Dumpty trick huh ?
Thanks Inky and Mani...I know...not the first nor the last thing I will break. I am a pretty big butter fingers.
Amber, OMG...soo sorry...since turning a passion to bohemian vases...I have that exact fear...of dropping! I can sympathize with you...She was very cute!!! XO Crazy glue her back to health.....
Hahaha, I know what you mean. Not gluing tonight as I'd probably glue my fingers together. Going to yoga for some peace
Been there!
I know, part of the game.
I broke a marble vase, yesterday. It was basically flawless and I chipped the edge right off. A month ago, I broke two of six of the glasses to the most delicate and lovely etched liqueur set. And a week before that, chipped a votive holder from a discontinued pottery (it was really cute and perfect). I never used to be this careless but I can really understand that sinking feeling. No matter what you pay, it's always a bummer.
She is so cute... maybe it can be repurposed?
im so sorry darling!!
So sorry Amber...That has got to be the worst feeling but she will probably glue together with very little evidence and you can still love her.The only thing worse is buying something you thought was perfect only to find the nearly invisible hairline crack when you get it home. :(
Everyone sharing their story helps (you win aeon, dang!). I also feel guilt. This poor apple survives 60 plus years as a working teapot...I have it for less than an hour and I break it.
That's why I stay away from glass,I'm like a bull in a china shop!
Hi AmberRose I've been off line for a bit so this time I'm hoping to stay on long enough to tell you all the great purchases you have been making. It's a shame that this happened to you but accidents happen it was cute while in one piece good luck next time & try to contain your over excitment so you don't call yourself a dumb bunny thats cute in it's self.
I wish I could afford to repair everything (EVERYTHING!) kintsugi-style. :D

Zowie, thanks! I sent you an email a while back.
Aeon, that is soooo cool! Never saw that before!
Eye, yep...super stinks!
Gargoyle...hahahaha!
Yes PY has a whole line from the 50s. Including relish pots, olive jars and on.
Take a look at the cuteness...

Very cute
Dr, a little freaky too :))
Oh, those! I think they are nice but I am not in love. The Japanese have a couple of lines from the 50s with an apple theme. I have some cups and saucers that are fun and will be at Randolph.
Yep totally! Hope to meet you, finally, at Randolph!
Sorry AmberRose I haven't come across it but I have been having problems in that area as it wasn't allowing me to send or set up any new ones for some reason. I have since put it in to get serviced to see if that will help I only got my Laptop back yesterday. But then I only put it in Tuesday.
Zowie, let me know if you see it. Sent about a week ago.
Been there, done that! Easy fix though A.R.!!
Still keeping eye open it would of been in shop then getting service
Awe....that's tough....I'm sorry....what a cutie :)
lmao...2 year old post I am commenting on here....oops didn't notice the date
In a market UK boot sale, I came across onynx earings in an art deco style. Problem with stall olders they put so much stuff in front of their outside stall I had to lean over to have a look at these things and I dropped one and it smashed the point off one of the earings. I had to pay the stall holder for the damage so I understand your pain! Cute teapot and it can expertly repaired but a collecter will know.
