Three days ago I went out for a short while and found this little guy in Surry Hills. I've seen a few of these around and have found a variety of cute images done in this 'stone' compound. I've seen reference to these wares being from the seventies onwards.
The trademark for MARBELL was filed by S.A. Stone Art N.V. Stuifzandstraat 38 3583 OVERPELT BELGIUM.
On 10 November 2005 this trademark was removed from the register.
If anyone has any more info about this firm I'd love to hear of it.
Love the MARBELL pun too!
Many thanks Don! How are you mate?
Many thanks NLDIONNE & MIKELV!
Never seen this before but it does look classically 70s to me. (Bowl haircut and all).
The thrifts seem to be full of 70s figurines lately. You know one or two will bubble to the surface as being the hot collectible....now to decide which one...
Hi Amber. Thanks.
He is so cute...
Many thanks Nadia. I've seen a few of these recently but each one has been chipped. I was surprised to see this one intact.

Eye candy is sweet stuff (beautiful objects) that appeals to the eye rather than the mouth.

My pleasure as always one more thing how do you find eye candy is it just typed in. I hope all is well for you & your partner & having lucky buys. Do you have your own shop or work from home
Hi Zowie! No shop. Used to sell once a month at the Collector's Market here in Sydney. An enthusiast. I've sold a few collections over the last forty years and just start again. I'm now retired so I have cheap daily travel around Sydney in buses, train and ferry ..... and on foot. I have a well practised routine of places to go and paths to tread. Went out yesterday and found nothing. But made an ebay purchase ..... the first in quite a while.
It's good to hear you are doing what you enjoy most, What is your favourite things to collect or is it all over the board. I would like to sell just don't know the best way of doing it & on Ebay it always seems as if everything goes for that next to nothing. I like to by=uy cheap but I also like to make so money on it. As for Ebay or anything else I do not purchase in that way, knowing my luck I would get ripped off. Have a great day & stay safe.
