This was also in the case at GW this week but today it was out on the shelf and half price to boot. It is a vintage 9" DeWitt bronze cat sculpture and signed on the side. A few minor scratches but still a nice patina to it. Being a cat person this was a "must have" as well. -Mike-
According to a website on the artist, "Floyd Tennison DeWitt was born in 1934, in Wolf Point, Montana, aspired to be a cowboy artist, emulating the work of C.M. Russell and Frederick Remington. He attended the Minneapolis School of Art, studying with sculptor, Paul Granlund, and painter, David Ratnen. In 1960 he was awarded and accepted a full six year scholarship to study sculpture at the prestigious national Academy of Fine Arts (Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten) in Amsterdam, Holland. His received numerous commissions which are now permanently installed in parks and public buildings in Europe.
