PICKED THESE MILITARY ISSUE SADDLEBAGS AT A YARD SALE. THEY ARE IN OVERALL GOOD CONDITION JUST NEED CLEANED AND A MINK OIL RUB DOWN. THE LEATHER IS IN GOOD CONDITION. THE U.S. LOGO IS STILL LEGIBLE AND THE NUMBER 48 IS STAMPED ON THE YOKE. NO IDEA AS TO AGE.JUST LIKED THEM WHEN I SAW THEM. ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

CAD, my father was in the last U.S. horse cavalry & I think they mechanized in '41 but that certainly wasn't the end of horses & mules in the war theater. Actually, I think I've seen docs. of them being used in Korea but can't swear to it. I'm wondering if the 48 is the possible date. Really nice!

blunderbuss2 thanks for the feedback it is appreciated. I like you think the 48 is either the year or possibly the unit assignment number.

Thinking 48 regiment or calvary unless it is 1848 but from a long time Military family never saw a year printed unless it was full date like 1948 or 1848 not just 48 . It looks like it is WWI 48th regiment .
