This lamp has been passed down for several generations of the family. I'm told that it is a "reverse painted lamp" as the painting on the globe is on the inside. When the lamp is on, in a dark room, it casts the picture on the globe onto the wall...it's beautiful and can't really be put into words. It's in excellent condition. Family history places this somewhere in the late 1800s.

Any idea of the history or timeframe on this? Also interested in approximate value.

As far as dimensions, I'd say it's roughly 2.5 feet tall and the globe is probably 18 inches across at its widest.

Nice! Any marks on shade or take top off and look inside top ring? Dave

This lamp was most likely made by Phoenix Lamp Co. and dates from abt 1910-1920. It is featured on page 122 of the book Quality Electric Lamps, published by L-W Book Sales 1992. One the other hand, a company called Jeanette made similar lamps to this, but my money would be on Phoenix. Your family did well caring for it all these years. Thank you for sharing.
