    I saw walksoftly posting of his newly found hotel annunciator. In my collection of telephones I have another version of a hotel annunciator or signal board as they are called. The trade mark Samson was owned by Electric Goods Manufacturing Co. of Boston, MA. This 1880's company manufactured glass battery jars, Samson telephones, annunciators, and Samson junior intercoms. The annuncaitor i have came equipped with a transmitter and receiver so the hotel desk could communicate with any of the rooms. Electric Goods Manufacturing Co. in most cases did not install there own equipment, this was done by a Electric contractor company such as Metropolitan Electric Co. of Cambridge, MA

      I love this, it's a beautiful piece of cutting edge technology for it's time.
      A few questions;
      Do you know where it was used?
      What year is this from?
      Were the switches used to contact the room?
      Were the needles moved by electromagnet & how were they reset?

      Hello! I'm curious to know when this might have been made. Though the company was around in the 1880's, would an annunciator have a transmitter and receiver like this in the 1880's? Thank you!

      1920's for sure, Macomber.. Definitely not earlier than the late teens.

      I should looked more closely.. Mine was installed in 1925.. same unit, so it's around that time period.
