I found this Cap in a box at an estate auction. I believe it is a Bancroft US Air Force Officers Cap from approximately 1945. I have the origional box which I belive is rare to have with a hat. I am looking to find out if it belonged to a specific Rank Officer...i.e Colonel, Lt. Colonel. If anyone has any more info I would appreciate it.

There wasn't an Air Force in 1945... I believe this represents the 1959-1962 Tropical dress Uniform (not to be confused with the Dress Whites).

Lol! Reverse that... Came out backwards. It's the Dress White Hat, (not to be confused with the Tropical Dress Uniform) as the Tropical blue hat went with it.

The last patent on the headgear was issue on July 29, 1958. The hat is used by a Senior officer in this case a Colonel.

The visor is used in the Chicago Fire Department for the position of Commander. They do use a white leatherette top, not the vented material, though. Hope that helps.
