1920s artist "still life" of an unusual subject matter.
Depicts the equipment of a WW1 soldier of the 310th Machine Gun BN, 79th Infantry Division, AEF.
Equipment includes a bayonet, carry bag (with "AEF, 1918"), dog tag and the central helmet.
Other items include numerous VFW medals and ribbons along with reunion ribbons-- one to the 310th MG BN.
One of my favorite details is the USS Leviathan photo in the top left corner. The Leviathan was a troop ship that carried soldiers overseas and then brought them back after the occupation.

I love this find! There’s so much detail to take in, like the web belt and tiny flag. I also like how the artist composed the painting – the red donation poppy balancing out the red reunion tag, use of light and shadow, etc. The artist had a little trouble with proportion, but it’s a great picture anyway.
Thanks for looking chris.
