I love this lamp and have found out a lot about the maker of the stand, but need more definite information on the shade. I believe it is phanomen genre 829...can anyone confirm this?

This is a fantastic lamp! It is phanomen, but it is not genre 829. There is an almost identical lamp shown on pg. 145 of Ricke Lotz Band 1. This design is unidentified, but is very similar to genres 1/92 and 2/490 (both spherical shades like this one). Again, this is a fantastic piece! The date is given as 1901/1902.

The base is made by Moritz Hacker. I have identified the partial mark. What distinguishes the 1/92 and 2/490? Was 829 not made in a spherical shape? Thanks for your responses! It is an amazing lamp!

Where can I find info on 1/92 and 2/490?
    10. dasullywon dasullywon, 11 years ago
The work I cited is "Lotz Bohmisches Glas 1880-1940, Band 1", by Helmut Ricke and others. This book is very hard to find and very expensive, as is the case for most of the other Loetz references. This book is in German. For more books see Loetz.com for an excellent list.

Both PG 1/92 and 2/490 are shown in the back of the book as line drawings, so there are no pictures there (other references might). They show the same wavy pattern with spots in the background - which is part of the difference with 829.

The example on pg. 145 is almost identical, except the base has a more polished finish. Other than that they are the same. The accompanying paragraph says the decor is unidentified, but is similar to 1/92 and 2/490. The line drawings do look similar.

So try and find that book, but it ain't cheap!

      dream piece

Interesting. I've also seen this base before (without the cabochons) attributed to Gustav Gurschner.
    13. cogito cogito, 11 years ago
BTW - I'm curious. Is the lamp constructed such that the cabochons illuminate as well?
    14. JTATMMAA, 11 years ago
      Thanks...I just ordered the book.

The moonstone cabochons do not light.
    15. JTATMMAA, 11 years ago
The mark is definitely Moritz Hacker, but is it possible that Gustav Gurschner designed the pieces? I don't know a lot about Gustav Gurschner.

Killer lamp! Good eye, dassullywon. There is also a full page color photo of this same lamp on pg 126 of the English version of "Loetz Bohemian Glass 1880 -1940" by Neue Gallerie which is also a MUST have book. Sorry for the late notice but this book is coming up in 2 hours on ebay.
