My Dad was an Engineer for the Santa Fe. Trains. This is a Tran order no: 108
Account funeral of our late President Harding, Friday Aug 10 1923 all trains will come to a full stop and remain standing 5 mins. from 12 noon to 12:05PM etc. Care should be exercises not to stop freight trains on a grade where they will have trouble getting started etc.
My grandfather was a conductor on the Colorado Midland RR and his
son my Dad also started out in Colorado and later came to California and also drove trains for Union Pacific. I also have two brass key that are used to unlock the switching gates.
My grandfather and great grandfather worked on the rails in that area too. My father grew up in Barstow and Bakersfield. Very cool!

My dad has a bench from the Harvey house...he washed dishes there when he was about twelve. There are a few other mementos...An Almanac produced by Santa Fe that I posted on here...my father has a railroad watch from my great grandfather too. My greatgrandfather I believe was one of the people that connected the different boxcars (one of the few that still had his fingers at retirement) and my grandfather worked his way up to foreman.
Very neat piece!! My husband works for the railroad down here is Louisiana, as did his father, great uncle and another great uncle. All retired now, except one uncle had both his legs cut off when he fell under the train. He walks around on his nubs now.... it literally didn't slow him down at all!!
