    This pin about the size of a quarter. The US lettering is separte from the disc behind it. Most of the ones that I have seen the US is attached to the disc or there are 2 posts on the back. This one has one post with a screw on backing as shown in 2nd picture. Any information regarding the age or branch of service would be appreciated.

      Agree with scott, probably 1945 or earlier collar brass. The two pin brass you are speaking of were called clutch pins. They came in use at the end of WWII or shortly after.
