This is my 1960s fire hydrant that I bought off a guy in glens falls. I had no idea how big or HEAVY it was untill me and my girlfriend got there! It weighs around 300 pounds!!! When I ask my girlfriend if she wanted to help lift it she grabbed on to it and then we attempted to carry it until she dropped it on her leg..... When I asked the guy where he got this he told me he found it in his back yard river when he first moved into his house. What a great peice of history.

I have no idea why after downloading the image it converts it sideways.

      You're using a phone aren't you?
Try cropping the photo, some people have luck with that. Or send it from a computer.
    3. vwbus vwbus, 11 years ago
I don't have a wifi at my house so I only get to upload from my phone..
    4. vwbus vwbus, 11 years ago

Hi VW, if you don't mind me asking... how much did you pay for it?
    8. vwbus vwbus, 11 years ago
I don't mind at all! I'm proud of every price I pay!! I got it for $50. I believe it's worth almost $300
    9. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
Hi VW, you should be proud that was a great deal. At that weight I wouldn't be the surprise is it were worth even more at a scrap yard.
I am proud of the prices I paid for a lot of my pieces as well.
I was going to post the prices, but I didn't know if it would be proper etiquette for this site. I received a thorough hazing when I first joined, so I tend to tiptoe and walksoftly now ;^) so to speak. (pun intended David xo)

Yea I know what you've been through. I got harassed yesterday about an item I wanted to buy and I was trying to find out what it was worth so I could get it for the right price but then everyone started to complain and say I was taking advantage of the site. I was just trying to find out whether or not to buy it.
    11. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
I understand, I was doing the same over a bedroom suite (which I did buy).
It can be hard on newbies, but I hope you stick it out because there are some really wonderful people on this site who can help guide you. And you should be very proud of yourself #1 for your conduct, you handled it very respectfully. #2 to be so young and have such a good head on your shoulders. Keep collecting, you're off to a great start, nice nest egg for your future. ;^)

VW please don't tease the old dawgs on here, they may bite :^P
    21. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
      LoL eye xo
    22. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
It sure does eye. I have lots of firefighter pieces but no hydrants. Don't call this a fire hydrant in front of a firefighter they will quickly tell you that fire does not come out of it. LoL
    23. toolate2 toolate2, 11 years ago
Do you have a dog? lol...
    24. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
That's correct eye. Just hydrant ;^) see... us newbie whipper snappers are good for something after-all Hehehe

Yes toolate... 3 too many and only one faux concrete hydrant. The problem is all 3 are girls.
    25. tommy1002 tommy1002, 11 years ago
Now I know where that hydrant went.... I'm from Glens Falls and have been looking for that!!!!!! vw, don't worry about people giving you a hard time, just select "delete comment" and carry on. That rail light is worth the 100 all day long that's why I said offer 75 and you'll be happy!
    26. vwbus vwbus, 11 years ago
Well they deleted my railroad post but I just needed to know more about it. I mean ya it was a cool peice but it was in rough shape so I just wanted to make sure I was buying for a goo price. Thank you for all the support and comments
    27. Aimathena Aimathena, 11 years ago
