This is an original and extremely RARE Dante the Magician stone lithograph poster ca. 1935 This poster titled, "50 Mysteries" is a panel size lithograph measuring approximately 15" x 35" and is in A- condition with very little restoration work done to it. It is a powerful and striking image advertising Dante the Magician's "50 Mysteries" show.
Dante (1883-1955) was born Harry August Jansen in Denmark. He emigrated to the U.S. as a small boy and started out in magic as an illusion builder. He later built illusions for Howard Thurston, who was credited for giving Jansen his stage name "Dante".
Dante toured the world with his show "Sim-Sala-Bim", including on Broadway. Sim Sala Bim was Dante's trademark which he used as his magic words. He was often billed as "King of Magicians".
