Sometimes vineyards took a barrel and made it special to recognize a particularly good year. They are somewhat rare but appear from time-to-time. This beautifully painted 1903 barrel is from the Château Desmirail winery and includes its original bun (on top).
Château Desmirail goes back to before 1855 and is still in operation. According to the company’s website, "the name DESMIRAIL has been associated with wine production in the Médoc region since the end of the seventeenth century."
I’ve seen several barrels from different vineyards but thought this was one of the nicer examples with lots of color and detail.
nice :)!!!
