Entitled, "Time's Infliction of Eternity," this oil painting on linen/board with custom frame was created by Gail Potocki, who is a modern master of symbolist painting whose skill harkens back to that of Franz Von Stuck, Arnold Böcklin, and Fernand Khnopff. Potocki differs though in her choice of themes, as much of her oeuvre deals with environmental themes and societal issues of import to our modern times (see here: http://miroirmagazine.com/gail-potocki/).
This painting was completed in 2013 and was a highlight of Potocki's recent gallery exhibition at the Century Guild in LA entitled, "Fragmented Alice," which contained paintings that used well-known Lewis Carroll mythos and characters to address the momentary and fragile nature of time and our totems of remembrance.

Thanks folks. If you google her name and then go to "images," most of her prior work will come up. What I find fascinating is the talent and depth of her work, particularly when one finds out that she only started her career as an artist ~10 years ago at the age of 40! I think the depth of her work benefits from the "late start," while the skill is miraculous and speaks to a latent genius.
