Very Nice and museum quality, Thank You for showing these fantastic pieces.
Very nice boxed sets especially the superb Chicago Fair! Do you collect the Mite models too? My first ever Mickey was a broken 36' Mite!
geo26e no, my small collection is as you see it. Unfortunately I've come to regret
my participation in this forum, I have received unwelcome attention as a result
of these posts.
Vonsboy, I can't help noticing the exchanges. In the past, there has been traders posing as collectors trying to extract information, documentation etc from the experts or trying to sell items to members which is prohibited in this forum. The items you have posted so far are of exceptional standard hence drawing a great deal of attention, and perhaps, a little too much! I hope you will continue your participation in CW as you will soon find out the members are all very friendly, with plenty of sense of humor and most importantly, genuine passion.
Geo26e I'm shocked by the attention these few watches have attracted. I haven't enjoyed the attempts to look behind and beyond the posts though.
Vonsboy, apart from Maurice, who is really both a collector and a trader, I only know of two other people who owns both the English 34 & the 36. Also, the black box is the holy grail of MM boxes. So, please excuse us for our over enthusiasm as your 'few watches' and your participation in the forum means a great deal to us!
geo26e Maurice doesn't own a 34 to my knowledge,we've been friends for years
and he's never mentioned owning one.
Kerry Thanks for the post.
geo26e but maurice has everything else! haha
vonsboy, your 'small' (but not to me lol) collection is screaming for one more addition to the family to complete the progression and it is a Mite Model! Surely you have room for just one more watch in that beautifully set up display cabinet! I'm pretty sure Mr Rapallini has a spare one somewhere! lol
geo26e I don't think of these pieces as watches, though they are, but as small
works of art that transcend their function,a beautiful look back to the past, so
familiar and comforting and yet ever present.why do we collect? What need do we fill? What calls to us? Each of us has a story.
vonsboy very profound thought. Not interruping, just a short note in response to your comment to me, Your welcome and Thank You for looking
Yes, people collect for all sorts of reasons. Some enjoy the thrill of the hunt, some want to relive their childhood, some want to make a connection to history, the motives are endless in each collector for a multitude of reasons. I guess I enjoy the hunt and the the knowledge gained in the journey.
vonsboy, does this 33 box have the blue World fair sticker I made mention of in other posting?
it does not
Thank you, was just curious
your welcome
Again to the top of the page.....Love all the pieces in photo. On another subject, when the box arrives I'm getting from you, I'll add the watch and dedicate posting to you.
Have a great day
As usual you are too kind, I will certainly look forward to all your future posts
as I always do.
What I like about this forum is the appreciation of its participants for the thought effort and investment that it takes to amass collections such as Kerrys.
As with everything else that has to do with humanity and readily visible in these posts, collecting encompasses everything from the ridiculous to the sublime
First, Thank you for the above complement.
Also I might add, collecting is a common bond that brings people from different background, social placement and regions on this planet. It opens up different relationship between people that share a common interest.
Besides I like looking at all the neat stuff, Ha Ha
In this forum we see people actively helping, mentoring, educating ,befriending
people who are simultaneously their collecting rivals haha! Where else does that
happen?
Lol... I really never considered the "rivals" idea, but your totally right. But I believe there is more of a brotherhood base than rival...CW primary seems to me, a family sharing their joys and memories with each other. Now I am rambling on.....Ha Ha
Ok gonna interrupt your brotherhood and put sisterhood in here too ha ha. You two are soul mates with an amazing dedication to helping others with their pride and joy collections. Well done to you both. X
LOL Kay, sisters are "Family" too....
@vonsboy: here the box and watch reunited....I used one of you photos.....forgot to flip the lid, so used your photo from sale....
