Hi folks,
Just thought I'd share some pics of my latest acquisition for anyone that loves this stuff as much as I do.
This beautifully sculpted bronze lamp base, “Nude Woman with Flowers”, is an exquisite example of an Art Nouveau “Femmes-Fleur” motif, a woman metamorphosing from the blossom of a plant. She has leaves and flowers extending from her raised arms, forming a shade above her and an elegantly sculpted face depicted by a master artist. The foot of the lamp base depicts another traditional Art Nouveau motif.
The entire sculpture has a classic rich bronze patina with a little verdigris. (Photos taken in different lighting in an effort to capture patina and detail)
This sculpture is signed by Jules Jouant, a French sculptor, who was renowned for his portrait busts of music composers. He lived from 1882 to 1921, which dates this sculpture to that time period. Jules Jouants’ works have most recently been seen for sale at Sotheby’s.
Approximate Dimensions: Height 19” x Shade Diameter 8” / Base 5.5” x 5.5” / Weight: 14 pounds.
I'll be sending it out this week to have it completely rewired so that my house won't burn down from trusting 110 year-old electrical cord....; - )
Stunning ! I love it :-)
Thanks- my wife and I do too (it just arrived by Fed-Ex yesterday), and
we can't wait to see it after it's been newly "electrified"!
I am sure it will be amazing . Good to rewire first we don't want to see this beauty go up in flames . Hopefully you will re post her lit up when she is done :-)
Amazing, love it!
Thanks- ditto...!
; - )
Oh! wow!..how beautiful!...:-)
Actually P/D/A/M, it came from NYC.....though it of course originated in Europe.
Can't wait till it's "electrified" anew!
Thanks Inky- you have great taste...; - )
Stunning:)
Thanks, Aldo!
Wonderful! Would love to see it lit up.
O - M - G ---> Love it !!!
Hi Cogito,
I had it professionally rewired last month and will ask my daughter to take a picture of it with her digital camera (mine's broken). What makes it even cooler is that the guy installed a "touch" switch inside the base, so instead of having an on-off switch on the cord, all you have to do is touch it with your finger ANYWHERE and it lights up. I never even heard of something like that...!
Put a 7 watt "nite-light" bulb in there so you don't see the bulb at all, just the soft light coming from above her head.
Thanks antiquerose, that's just what I thought too when I saw it....; - )
Wow! How did I manage to miss this !
Love this lamp.....
