Mid Century Milo Baughman (?) Style Brass Water Fall

Recent purchase. Once I got it home, it appears that the lowest light recepticle has a portion of an old light bulb stuck in it. In the past,I have used the home remedy of using a raw potatoe stuck inside to "grab" the old bulb. Will try it soon, hopefully this will work. Any other suggestions? This 70's style, but I suppose it fits in the MCM catagory though. Not crazy about brass, wish it was chrome.
