Here's a screenprint by Portland artist Gary Houston, for a Massive Attack show in 2010. I've coveted this poster (18 x 24 inches, edition of 135) ever since I interviewed Gary for CW in 2011. Here's the link to that (cut and paste into your browser):

The source image for Gary's poster is a propaganda piece from World War I. Here's what Gary had to say about it in our interview:
"I’d seen the source image from World War I for years and thought, 'Whoa, I need to cut that out at some point, use it for something.' I liked the fact that the last Massive Attack record was titled 'Heligoland,' which is an island in the North Sea off Germany that was utilized in World War I and World War II.
"So that one seemed to make sense. Their record dealt with a place associated with World War I, and the image was from the same era. I added the dove. The question for the viewer is, which is the attack? Is the dove the attack or are the bayonets the attack? There’s a certain amount of ambiguity about that one that I kind of enjoy."
Just wonderful images!
one of my favorites!!
