This posting is of a piece for which I documented with photographs all the steps in its fabrication. I have chosen this particular three to show the final steps of each phase; the body having been turned on a lathe (it is hollow with the walls 3/16th of an inch in thickness), the completed wax pattern with all the decorations applied, and the glass casting being removed from the mold, or better yet, the mold material being removed from the casting.
I call this piece CIRCUS IV because CIRCUS I, II, and III were all casting failures. This was an effort to see, more or less, how far I could push the envelope and took over a year to complete. The vase is 16 inches tall and was finished in 1996.
