Found this unusual 6" dia. art glass sphere-bowl at SA this morning. The pattern looks sort of like a Japanese rising sun with a blowing leaf effect. It's on both sides with a little variation. It starts as a dark blue at the bottom and gets lighter towards the top. The bottom is roughly ground with no marks or labels. Not sure what to make of it other than I liked the look and feel of it. -Mike-

It does have an Oriental feel to me too. The marks are almost calligraphic!

It's a fantastic vase Mike. Really appealing.

I can't say for sure it's Japanese but it does look like some of their more recent production pieces. The only thing steering me away is the base - Japanese glass has always been well finished and they would not accept a base like that.
May be a studio piece - looks nicely worked.

No definite here from me - sorry! I would happily own it though!
