Here is a nice grouping of Kralik Lava cir. 1925-30. These were made in the factory in Elenorianheim Czechoslovakia; now Lenora, Czech Republic. These are on display in their municipal museum right above the origenal factory site. These were given to them from the estate house (castle Kralik) That is now in private hands.
If you visit Leneora from Passau it is only a few hours by car over the German border but beware if you take a bus...You will be on an early morning trip picking up and dropping off kids to school, going through villages, walking almost a mile through the border (no customs there), a train ride, then another quick walk to the village from the train depot. I think it best to go straight to Prague first then anywhere else in the country...
Elenorianheim is just one location where Kraliks were made. By the time these were made they had many factories in the region. If you visit the museum you will see family photos, glass industry tools and factory site photos.
Pieces: Lava application
Powder coloration applied to the surface of hot piece then sprayed with an acid and re-fired to create a flash of iridescence.
The green piece resembles Marie Kirschner's designs and has a pontil (the others do not). Please see Craig's post about the tool used to make pieces that have a fire polished rim without a pontil.
