Found this nice little 5" dia. turn of the century hand painted trinket box at GW this afternoon. The top is painted with a pretty "Zinnia" design. It was signed by the artist but all that's left is a very faint shadow of the name. The date is still clear enough to read as "1916". Uno Favorite in Bavaria made blanks which in turn were imported by Burley and Tyrrell Co. of Chicago Ill. around 1912. The interior is a lustre "mother of pearl" type glaze on both the dish and the inside of the top. The design is very clean and stylized. A few I've seen online have the traditional roses and gilt but I like this one. It has a nice contemporary look to it for being so old.
