SEA glassworks, Sweden.
Located just outside Kosta.
First piece: ROCKET, vase 260 mm. Design Inge Samuelsson 1960s.
Second piece: OFFICE, decanter and glass 140 mm. Design Rune Strand 1924-2000) 1980s.
Third: DOUBLE, vase 370 mm. Design Liselotte Henriksen (1952-) 2007.
Despite being nearly 50 years between the launch of the three glass objects, they are very similar in style. Clean lines and no large excesses. I think it is a concept that sells well over the years. Moreover, not all too expensive to manufacture. A timeless design, you might say?
The name SEA was achieved by combining the first letter of the last name of the three owners, Inge Samuelsson - Sven Ernstsson - Tore Andersson. Glass production at the mill had been around since 1953, when Ekeberga glassworks was founded at the site just outside Kosta. They made most raw glass for further refinement of the company Dekor-Etching in Kosta. In 1956, Samuelsson/Ernstsson/Andersson bought Ekeberga glassworks and started up new manufacturing there.
Sea Glassworks are nowdays a brand company in the New Wave Group. Orrefors and Kosta-Boda are also brand companys in this group. Production at SEA stopped 2007-2008, and today all their glass are produced in other countries. These three glass objects, however, is blown by hand in SEA outside Kosta before 2007-2008.
Love that blue on Office and how it develops to the line of the form.
