These 2 were never scanned by me, my Dad had these from the wars WW2- Vietnam he flew L-5's from India to China in 1945. Anyone know what years these possibly came from? Both prints are on the same paper so possibly shots were the same time.
Air Commandos letter to my Dad he joined this group finally in 1994 but he died the next year

First image appears to show the 14th AF patch on shoulders-- should be a "Flying Tiger". The 14th was established in early 1943 from the American Volunteer Group (AVG).
Also, wartime awards are being presented, so it is certainly a photo from early 1945 to shortly after the end of the in 1945.
The presenting officer MAY be Claire Chennault, the Commander of the AVG and later 14th AF. Check his collar insignia-- if stars, then he is a good place to start.
Your other photo is also probably WW2 and from the same time period. The casual dress and hot weather is most likely CBI theater.

Thanks Scott, I do remember the name Chennault? my parents talking about him i think he was loved by the Dad if i remember right?
The last pic strikes me as odd because it shows a fixed pitch prop(appears wooden) & I don't know of many of those being used as late as '43 on anything other than "spotters" but there were so many variations during the war. Even the Stearmans & Wacos used constant-speed props before the war. Can't ident. the plane by just what is shown. Interesting pics & history.
blunderbuss2 the last print on back is stamped W.D. Smith photographer Ft Worth Tx, and i have my Dad's graduation certificate from this flight school for the Army.
I see the medals on the first print its a star on each guy, So its not the DC medal. but i wonder why my Dad had this print, he is not one of these guys. And I wonder if his DC medal was given to him by this famous Chennault. I have his Military Personnel Records Jacket which I have not read yet. Should it be in here?
His awards should be annotated on his DD214.

Yes i have the dd214 i don't understand the names of some medals though, Distinguish Cross medal
I'd be happy to "translate" if you post the names.
There are two that would fit the bill: DSC (Distinguished Service Cross)-- second only to the Medal of Honor for combat valor and the DFC (Distinguished Flying Cross)-- for heroism or extraordinary achievement during aerial flight.
I would suspect it is the latter (DFC), since your father was a pilot.

Yes its the Flying cross. i will get his dd214, BTW I posted his distarge from 1945 which has a list of medals he had then, was back in the army flying Generals 1950-1967
